Department of Trade, Industry and Competition Opens Applications for Key Professional Positions

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) has announced the availability of new career opportunities for qualified professionals seeking to contribute to South Africa’s economic development and public sector excellence. The vacancies are based in Sunnyside, Pretoria, and offer competitive remuneration packages and career growth prospects.

Assistant Director: Advanced Manufacturing Industries

The department is inviting applications for the position of Assistant Director: Advanced Manufacturing Industries. This role focuses on supporting investment promotion initiatives within strategic sectors including aerospace, defence, electronics, space technology, white goods, and fuel cell industries.

Applicants must possess an appropriate NQF Level 7 qualification in Business Management, Investment, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field, together with three to five years of relevant professional experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting market research, supporting investor engagement programmes, maintaining investment databases, assisting with investor missions, developing business cases, and strengthening relationships with industry stakeholders. The role also involves contributing to investment attraction strategies and facilitating investment project development.

The position offers a starting salary of R605,742 per annum.

Internal Auditor: Performance Audit

The dtic is also seeking a suitably qualified Internal Auditor specializing in Performance Auditing. The successful candidate will assist in evaluating departmental operations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, compliance, and sound governance practices.

Candidates should hold an NQF Level 6 qualification in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or a related discipline, coupled with one to two years of relevant auditing experience.

Key duties include audit planning, evidence gathering and evaluation, performance assessments, report compilation, and monitoring the implementation of audit recommendations. Strong analytical capabilities and knowledge of public sector auditing standards and financial regulations are essential.

The position carries a starting salary of R605,742 per annum.
