Limpopo Government Vacancies 2026: LEDET Opens Applications for Senior and Specialist Positions

The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) has officially announced a large-scale recruitment drive for 2026, offering multiple employment opportunities across executive management, environmental services, tourism, communication, corporate support, and economic development sectors.

The vacancies are primarily based in Polokwane, with additional posts available in districts such as Giyani, Modimolle, Lebowakgomo, and Thohoyandou.

Strategic Recruitment to Strengthen Public Service Delivery

According to the department, the recruitment initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to improve public sector efficiency, strengthen governance systems, stimulate economic growth, promote tourism development, and enhance environmental protection across Limpopo Province.

The department is inviting qualified and experienced professionals to apply for positions ranging from Assistant Director level to senior executive management roles. Annual salary packages range from approximately R480,000 to more than R1.7 million for executive appointments.

LEDET further encouraged women and persons with disabilities to apply in support of the department’s employment equity objectives.

Senior Executive Opportunities Available

Among the most senior vacancies advertised is the Chief Director: Business Regulations & Governance position, offering a remuneration package between R1.49 million and R1.78 million annually. The successful candidate will oversee functions related to liquor regulation, consumer protection, business governance, and registration services.

The department is also recruiting for the Chief Director: Corporate Services role, responsible for strategic leadership in areas including human resources, legal administration, employee wellness programmes, information technology services, and facilities management.

Additional executive opportunities include:

  • Director: Communication Services

The Communication Services portfolio requires expertise in digital communication, multimedia engagement, crisis communication management, SEO implementation, online branding, and public sector media relations.

Tourism and Economic Development Vacancies

LEDET is seeking professionals to support tourism growth and economic empowerment initiatives within the province.

The Deputy Director: Tourism Planning & Regulations position will focus on tourism policy development, sector research, stakeholder coordination, and strategic planning aimed at expanding the provincial tourism economy.

Another key vacancy is the Deputy Director: Economic Empowerment role, which will support B-BBEE programmes, enterprise development initiatives, skills development strategies, and economic inclusion projects targeting vulnerable communities.

In addition, Assistant Director: Tourism Destination Development & Transformation positions are available in multiple districts. These roles are intended to strengthen rural tourism development, tourism infrastructure planning, destination marketing, and community-based tourism initiatives.

Environmental and Wildlife Protection Careers

Environmental professionals are also encouraged to apply for specialist conservation and compliance positions.

The department is recruiting Control Environmental Officers and Environmental Officer Specialists to support biodiversity conservation, anti-poaching operations, environmental compliance monitoring, and wildlife crime investigations.

Responsibilities within these roles include:

  • Investigating wildlife trafficking cases
  • Supporting environmental impact assessments
  • Enforcing conservation legislation

Certain positions require Environmental Management Inspector qualifications as well as experience with international wildlife protection frameworks such as CITES.
