Department of Transport Vacancy

The Department of Transport invites applications from experienced professionals for the position of Chief Director: Driving Licence Card Account (DLCA), a senior management role based in Pretoria. This position offers a competitive remuneration package of approximately R1.49 million per annum and presents an opportunity to contribute to the strategic oversight of a critical national entity.

Role Overview

The Chief Director will be responsible for the overall management of the Driving Licence Card Account Trading Entity. This includes ensuring sound financial governance, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The role plays a pivotal part in maintaining and modernising South Africa’s driving licence card systems, including production, security, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting and expenditure control
  • Ensure effective procurement and contract management aligned with public sector regulations
  • Maintain compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations
  • Implement and monitor risk management and governance frameworks
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives, including automation and system integration
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including service providers and strategic partners
  • Provide leadership to staff and ensure optimal organisational performance

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in a relevant field such as Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or Law
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a senior managerial level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PFMA, supply chain management frameworks, ICT systems, and secure production environments
