KwaZulu-Natal Government Announces Senior Vacancies Closing 27 March 2026

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for agricultural and rural development programmes

  • Advise the MEC on policy implementation and departmental performance

Deputy Director: Research and Demography

Salary: R1,059,105 per annum

Required Qualifications

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:

  • Demographic Studies

  • Population and Development Studies

  • Social Sciences

  • Monitoring and Evaluation

Candidates must also have at least five years of experience at junior management level in a research or population development environment.

Responsibilities

Key duties include:

  • Managing demographic and population research projects

  • Collaborating with research institutions and government departments

  • Monitoring policy development related to population trends

  • Supporting planning processes and service delivery improvements

This role supports evidence-based policymaking for social development programmes in KwaZulu-Natal.

Deputy Director Positions – Provincial Treasury

Deputy Director: Municipalities & Municipal Entities Advisory Services

Salary: R896,436 per year

Candidates must hold an NQF Level 7 qualification in areas such as:

  • Internal Auditing

  • Accounting

  • Cost Management

Applicants must also be members of professional bodies such as the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa or the Institute of Risk Management South Africa.

  • Developing internal audit and risk management standards

  • Monitoring compliance in municipalities and municipal entities

  • Providing advisory services and capacity-building support

  • Managing provincial risk registers

Deputy Director: Risk and Advisory Services

Salary: R896,436 per year

Requirements

  • A qualification in Financial Accounting or a related field

  • Membership with the Institute of Risk Management South Africa (IRMSA)

  • At least three years of junior management experience in accounting or financial management

Duties

  • Developing financial policies and procedures

  • Maintaining departmental risk registers
