Department of Cooperative Governance Announces Vacancy
The Department of Cooperative Governance has officially opened applications for the position of Chief Director: Community Work Programme (CWP) Implementation, covering the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, and Northern Cape regions. Based in Pretoria, the successful candidate will receive an all-inclusive remuneration package of R1 494 900 per annum at salary level 14. The department is seeking a highly capable leader who can effectively oversee the implementation of the Community Work Programme while building strategic stakeholder partnerships and ensuring compliance with national policies and standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed Chief Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of the Community Work Programme across the designated provinces. Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating the implementation of the Community Work Programme (CWP)
- Overseeing policies, frameworks, norms, and standards related to CWP
- Monitoring contract management processes and ensuring compliance
- Coordinating provincial and local stakeholder structures
- Establishing strategic partnerships to improve programme outcomes
- Managing reporting systems and maintaining work opportunities
The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to support poverty alleviation, employment creation, and community empowerment initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Interested applicants must meet the following requirements:
- An undergraduate qualification in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or an equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification recognised by SAQA
- A minimum of five years’ experience at senior managerial level
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- A valid driver’s licence
- Successful completion of the Nyukela Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme before appointment
Additional knowledge of MS PowerPoint and MS Project will be advantageous.
