The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for a variety of permanent government posts available across South Africa. Positions are offered at various salary levels and are based in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Mthatha, Mmabatho, Bloemfontein, and additional regional offices.

DPWI is recruiting for posts within management, professional, technical, artisan, security, administrative, horticulture, and cleaning services categories.

🏢 Management & Professional Posts

  • Deputy Director: Facilities Management

  • Chief Works Manager (Building, Mechanical & Electrical)

  • Chief Horticulturist: Facilities Management

  • Works Manager: Electrical

Salary Range: ± R397,116 – R1,059,105 per annum

🛠 Artisan & Technical Posts

  • Chief Artisan (Electrical / Mechanical)

  • Artisan Foreman (Refrigeration)

  • Artisan Painter

  • Artisan Bricklayer

  • Tradesman Aid / Tradesman Aid II

  • Handyman

Salary Range: ± R163,680 – R480,267 per annum

🧹 Cleaning, Grounds & Horticulture Services

  • Senior General Foreman: Cleaning Services

  • Foreman / Supervisor: Cleaning Services

  • Supervisor: Horticultural Services

  • Groundsman

  • Cleaner (multiple posts and locations)

Salary Range: ± R138,486 – R193,359 per annum

Salary Range: ± R163,680 – R325,101 per annum

✅ Minimum Requirements (Overview)

Requirements differ per post and may include:

  • Grade 10, Grade 12 (Matric), ABET, or relevant tertiary qualification

  • Trade Test certification for artisan positions

  • Valid driver’s license (where applicable)

  • Computer literacy

  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)

  • Willingness to work shifts or travel, where required
