Free State Department of Health Announces Healthcare Vacancies in Mangaung Metro District

The Free State Department of Health has announced multiple employment opportunities within the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality. These vacancies support the department’s ongoing strategy to strengthen primary healthcare systems and expand access to quality medical services across the province.

Pharmacist Grade 1–3

The department seeks a qualified Pharmacist registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC). Post-registration experience is required in accordance with the grade level.

Salary Packages:

  • Grade 1: R848 862 per annum

  • Grade 2: R917 634 per annum

  • Grade 3: R1 001 349 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pharmaceutical stock management (ordering, storage, disposal)

  • Ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical legislation

  • Promoting rational medicine use and antibiotic stewardship

  • Supervising Pharmacist Assistants

  • Providing patient counselling and dispensing services

A valid driver’s licence and strong leadership competencies are required.

Assistant Manager: Primary Health Care (PNB4)

This leadership role is open to experienced nursing professionals registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Salary:

  • R755 355 per annum

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing

  • Post-basic qualification accredited with SANC (minimum one year)

  • 10 years’ nursing experience

  • At least 3 years in a management role

Key Duties:

  • Supporting PHC re-engineering initiatives

  • Driving Ideal Clinic Status compliance

  • Managing HR and financial processes

  • Overseeing data quality and performance monitoring

Extensive travel within the district is required.

Clinical Nurse Practitioners Grade 1–2 (PNB1)

  • R476 367 per annum

Applicants must hold a post-basic qualification in Primary Health Care and have a minimum of four years’ nursing experience after SANC registration.

Responsibilities include:

Operational Managers PHC (PNB3)
