Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) Announces Director: Investment Projects Vacancy
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) is seeking a highly experienced and qualified professional to fill the position of Director: Investment Projects. This senior management opportunity is aimed at strengthening South Africa’s investment environment, supporting economic development, and promoting sustainable job creation.
The position is based in Sunnyside, Pretoria, and offers an attractive all-inclusive remuneration package of R1 266 714 per annum.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation and management of investment support initiatives and incentive programmes designed to improve business competitiveness and encourage expansion across key sectors of the economy.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- An NQF Level 7 qualification in Economics, Commerce, or a related field recognised by SAQA
- A minimum of five years’ middle or senior management experience within an economic environment in the public sector
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in:
- Investment promotion and investor facilitation
- Incentive scheme administration
- Programme and project management
- Stakeholder relations and partnership coordination
- Research, reporting, and strategic analysis
- Financial management and budget oversight
Experience working with CRM or MIS systems for investor management and tracking will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder and Partnership Coordination
The appointed director will work closely with government institutions, development finance agencies, industry bodies, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen investment support and improve programme effectiveness.
Investment Promotion and Investor Support
Responsibilities include coordinating investment marketing initiatives, facilitating investor engagements, and supporting inward and outward investment missions.
Business Advisory and Incentive Support
The successful candidate will provide technical and strategic support to businesses applying for incentive schemes while promoting governance, compliance, and funding access.
Research and Performance Analysis
The role includes overseeing programme performance analysis and contributing to research aimed at enhancing investment and incentive initiatives.
Directorate and Resource Management
The incumbent will also be responsible for strategic planning, risk management, financial oversight, human resource management, and maintaining effective operational systems within the directorate.
