Department of Home Affairs Vacancies 2026: Career Opportunities Open Across South Africa

DHA Expands Recruitment Drive Nationwide

As part of its latest recruitment initiative, the Department of Home Affairs is seeking experienced and ethical professionals to support its ongoing efforts to strengthen government operations, improve service delivery, and advance the department’s digital transformation strategy.

The advertised vacancies are available at both provincial offices and the DHA Head Office in Tshwane.

Senior Law Enforcement Director Vacancy

Among the key positions available is the role of Director: Central Law Enforcement, based at the DHA Head Office in Tshwane.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing immigration inspections, coordinating national law enforcement operations, and collaborating with institutions such as SAPS, Correctional Services, and intelligence agencies. Additional duties include managing investigations, coordinating deportation processes, implementing policies, and driving strategic operational planning.

The position offers an all-inclusive annual salary package ranging from approximately R1.2 million to R1.49 million.

Minimum requirements include:

  • An NQF Level 7 qualification in Security Management, Policing, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field
  • At least five years’ experience at middle or senior management level
  • Experience in law enforcement and operational planning
  • A valid driver’s licence

Asset and Property Management Positions

The department is also recruiting Assistant Directors: Asset and Property Management in:

  • Limpopo
  • North West
  • Western Cape

These positions involve managing departmental assets, overseeing transport services, handling budgeting processes, and ensuring compliance with public finance regulations.

Applicants must possess:

  • An NQF Level 6 qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics Management
  • A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience in supply chain management
  • Strong financial administration and project management capabilities

Successful candidates can expect annual salaries ranging from R487,197 to R573,897.

Investigation Specialists Required

To strengthen its anti-corruption and fraud prevention capabilities, the DHA is appointing Assistant Directors: Investigations in:

  • Eastern Cape
  • KwaZulu-Natal
  • Mpumalanga

The successful candidates will investigate fraud, corruption, and criminal activities involving both internal officials and external syndicates. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, compiling reports, managing case files, assessing risks, and supporting disciplinary or criminal proceedings.

Requirements include:

  • A qualification in Law, Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigation, Policing, or a related field
  • At least three years’ supervisory experience in investigations
  • Knowledge of anti-corruption legislation and criminal justice systems

The positions offer salary packages between R487,197 and R573,897 per annum.

Information Systems Audit Opportunity

The DHA is also seeking to appoint an Assistant Director: Information Systems Audit at its Tshwane headquarters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting internal IT audits
  • Managing audit software systems
  • Performing data analysis
  • Supporting risk-based audit planning

Suitable candidates should hold qualifications in:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • Internal Auditing

Experience with audit analytics software such as ACL Analytics or Arbutus will serve as an added advantage.

Risk Management Vacancies

Three Assistant Director: Risk Management positions are currently available at the DHA Head Office.

The department is looking for professionals with expertise in:

  • Enterprise risk management
  • Financial management
  • Internal auditing
  • Compliance monitoring

Responsibilities will include maintaining departmental risk registers, coordinating mitigation strategies, and supporting governance and compliance processes across the department.

Contact Centre Team Leaders Needed

In an effort to strengthen customer support services, the DHA is recruiting two Contact Centre Team Leaders at its Head Office.

Candidates should have supervisory experience within contact centre or customer service environments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising contact centre consultants
  • Handling escalated complaints
  • Monitoring service delivery standards
  • Coaching and mentoring staff
  • Managing operational performance

These positions will require shift work.
