Department of Agriculture Vacancies 2026: Entry-Level Opportunities Available

The Department of Agriculture has released a new intake of entry-level vacancies for 2026. Available Positions

1. Auxiliary Services Officer (2 Posts)

  • Location: Pretoria (Roodeplaat: Variety Control)
  • Salary: R201,093 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Experience: Not required

Duties include assisting with plant trials and evaluations in accordance with agricultural legislation. The role involves greenhouse and field work, including handling seeds, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and maintaining research records.

2. Farm Aid (3 Posts)

  • Location: Pretoria (Roodeplaat: Variety Control)
  • Salary: R144,024 per annum
  • Requirements: ABET Level 2/3 or equivalent
  • Experience: Not required

Responsibilities include supporting crop production processes such as soil preparation, irrigation, harvesting, and maintaining farm infrastructure and equipment.

3. Tradesman Aid (5 Posts Total)

  • Locations:
    • Mpumalanga (Hectorspruit) – 2 Posts
    • Limpopo (Phalaborwa) – 3 Posts
  • Salary: R144,024 per annum
  • Requirements: Basic education (ABET)
  • Experience: Not required

This role focuses on maintaining fences, roads, and infrastructure related to animal disease control. Tasks include patrol duties, firefighting, and working in demanding outdoor conditions.

4. General Worker (1 Post)

  • Location: Skukuza, Mpumalanga
  • Salary: R144,024 per annum
  • Requirements: Basic education
  • Experience: Experience with wild or large animals is advantageous

Duties include animal care, maintaining quarantine facilities, ensuring biosecurity compliance, and assisting with veterinary-related procedures.
