Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Vacancies 2026

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Assistant Director: Financial Accounting based at its National Office in Pretoria. This permanent appointment offers an opportunity to contribute to sound financial governance within a key public sector institution.

Position Information

Position Title: Assistant Director: Financial Accounting

Salary: R487,197 per annum (Level 9)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Relevant Financial Management qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience in a financial management environment.
  • Knowledge of public sector financial legislation, policies, and systems.
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to perform effectively under demanding deadlines.

Knowledge of the following will be advantageous:

  • IPID Act
  • Public Service Act
  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
  • Treasury Regulations
  • Internal Control procedures
  • PERSAL, LOGIS, ELS, and BAS systems
  • Government budgeting and financial management processes

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will oversee financial accounting functions and ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations.

Revenue Management

  • Monitor revenue collection and recording processes.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of public funds.
  • Manage banking activities and reconciliations.
  • Verify electronic payment allocations.
  • Oversee petty cash administration and reporting.

Debt Management

  • Supervise debt administration and recovery activities.
  • Engage with debtors regarding outstanding payments.
  • Ensure compliance with approved debt collection procedures.

Expenditure Management

  • Verify expenditure transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor budget compliance.
  • Manage supplier payments and creditor reconciliations.
  • Oversee BAS and LOGIS financial transactions.

Transfers and Subsidies

  • Authorise transfer and subsidy payments.
  • Ensure legislative compliance before payments are processed.
  • Verify beneficiary eligibility requirements.

Financial Reporting

  • Compile monthly financial reports for National Treasury.
  • Assist with annual financial statement preparation.
  • Reconcile financial records and analyse financial information.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

Staff Management

  • Supervise financial accounting personnel.
  • Allocate work and monitor performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental standards and procedures.
