The Department of Agriculture (DOA) invites suitably qualified South African citizens to apply for a number of permanent positions for the 2026 financial year. The vacancies are based at the Department’s Head Office in Pretoria and at the Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute in Middelburg, Eastern Cape.

These posts are available across various occupational levels, ranging from entry-level positions to middle management.


Available Vacancies

Senior Personal Assistant

Ref No: 3/3/1/36/2025
Salary: R896 436 per annum (Level 11 – all-inclusive package)
Location: Pretoria – Head Office

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate

  • National Diploma in Office Management / Public Administration / Public Management or a related qualification

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience

  • Knowledge of public sector procedures and frontline customer care

  • Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Director-General

  • Manage diaries, travel arrangements, and correspondence

  • Coordinate meetings and departmental schedules

  • Oversee budget planning and petty cash

  • Manage performance, training, and administrative processes within the private office


Assistant Director: Information Centre

Salary: R468 459 per annum (Level 09)
Location: Pretoria – Head Office

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Information Management / Information Science (NQF Level 6)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience

  • Knowledge of library standards, databases, and information systems

  • Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage library and information services

  • Maintain catalogues and electronic asset registers

  • Assist with preservation and organisation of library resources

  • Supervise staff and manage workflow

  • Handle acquisitions and financial reporting


Supply Chain Practitioner: Orders

Ref No: 3/3/1/33/2025
Salary: R325 101 per annum (Level 07)
Location: Pretoria – Head Office

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain management

  • Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and PPPFA

  • LOGIS literacy certificate

  • Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process requisitions and purchase orders

  • Capture and authorise transactions on LOGIS

  • Manage petty cash transactions

  • Maintain procurement records

  • Ensure compliance with SCM policies and procedures


Secretary: Various Components

Ref No: 3/3/1/34/2025
Salary: R228 321 per annum (Level 05)
Location: Pretoria – Head Office

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate (NQF Level 4)

  • No prior experience required

  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

  • Good communication and organisational skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and receptionist services

  • Manage correspondence, filing, and diaries

  • Arrange meetings and travel

  • Process invoices and travel claims

  • Maintain administrative records


Farm Aid

Ref No: 3/3/1/35/2025
Salary: R138 486 per annum (Level 02)
Location: Middelburg, Eastern Cape – Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 1 or 2 (ABET Level 2/3)

  • No experience required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with crop production and livestock care

  • Maintain farm infrastructure and equipment

  • Perform general farm duties such as irrigation, feeding, and cleaning

  • Support agricultural operations
