The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced 18 vacancies for the position of Animal Health Technician across various districts in the province. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply before the closing date of 29 May 2026.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess the following:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Appropriate NQF Level 6 qualification in Animal Health or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA
  • Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician
  • Valid driver’s licence (excluding applicants with disabilities)
  • No prior work experience required

Candidates should also demonstrate good communication skills, report-writing ability, computer literacy, and knowledge of animal health legislation and disease control programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Implement animal disease control measures
  • Support veterinarians with disease management and livestock production initiatives
  • Collect samples and assist with enforcement of animal health legislation
  • Provide extension and advisory services to livestock farmers
  • Maintain databases and prepare monthly and quarterly reports
