Vacancy (2026) Department of Traditional Affairs

The Department of Traditional Affairs invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Deputy Director: Internal Audit on a 12-month contract basis. This role presents an opportunity to contribute to strengthening governance, risk management, and accountability within the public sector.

Position Details

  • Salary: R896,436 per annum (all-inclusive package)

The remuneration structure comprises a fixed salary component (70%) and a flexible portion in accordance with government policy.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Internal Auditing
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an internal auditing environment at Assistant Director level
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and implement internal audit strategies and methodologies
  • Manage the full audit lifecycle, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up
  • Review and compile audit reports with practical recommendations
  • Assess internal control systems and enhance risk management processes
  • Ensure adherence to professional auditing standards
  • Facilitate implementation of corrective actions based on audit outcomes
