Finance & Administration Contract Positions
The Department of Tourism invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for several six-month contract positions based at its Pretoria offices. These posts are aimed at individuals with experience in finance, accounting, internal audit, and administration who wish to gain exposure within the public service environment.

Available Positions
Senior Administrative Officer: Internal Control and Compliance

Requirements
-
National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Internal Audit
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Internal Audit, Internal Control, or Compliance
-
Knowledge of public service legislation (PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA)
-
Understanding of internal control frameworks and policy development
-
Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and computer skills
Key Responsibilities
-
Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit queries
-
Monitor implementation of audit and audit committee action plans
-
Review compliance with financial legislation and departmental policies
-
Maintain compliance registers and assess operational risks
-
Support the Financial Misconduct Committee and monitor outcomes
-
Compile compliance and performance reports for management

Requirements

Grade 12 plus a relevant finance or accounting qualification

At least 1 year relevant experience

Basic knowledge of BAS, LOGIS, Safetyweb, and PERSAL
-
Familiarity with Treasury regulations and public service finance processes

Good communication, planning, numeracy, and computer skills
Key Responsibilities

Clear BAS exceptions and process journals
-
Capture and verify entity and banking details
-
Reconcile payment batches and registers
-
Maintain accurate financial records and archives
-
Attend to finance-related enquiries and reporting

Process travel and subsistence claims and advances

Capture and verify transactions on BAS and PERSAL

Manage creditor payments and LOGIS orders

Compile payment registers and reconcile batches
