Department of Tourism Opens Multiple Vacancies in Pretoria

The Department of Tourism invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a range of permanent positions based in Pretoria. These appointments form part of the Department’s strategic mandate to strengthen South Africa’s tourism sector through innovation, inclusive growth, sound governance, and skills development.

Available Positions

Deputy Director: Knowledge Systems Identification and Support

  • Reference: DT 05/2026

  • Salary: R1 059 105 per annum (Level 12)

  • Requirements: NQF Level 7 qualification in Computer Science, Information Management, or related fields, with extensive experience in software development, database management, and knowledge systems.

  • Role Focus: Leads the development, maintenance, and quality assurance of national tourism knowledge platforms to support informed decision-making and sector development.

Deputy Director: Community Participation

  • Reference: DT 06/2026

  • Salary: R1 059 105 per annum (Level 12)

  • Requirements: NQF Level 7 qualification in Tourism or Social Sciences, with experience in community development and universal access initiatives.

  • Role Focus: Drives Universal Accessibility programmes, stakeholder engagement, and community-based tourism awareness initiatives.

Senior Legal Administration Officer (MR6)

  • Reference: DT 07/2026

  • Salary: R586 956 – R1 386 972 per annum

  • Requirements: LLB qualification and a minimum of eight (8) years post-qualification legal experience.

  • Role Focus: Provides legal advisory services, manages litigation and contracts, supports legislative processes, and supervises legal administration staff.

Assistant Director: Tourism Capital Investment Incentives (X2 Posts)

  • Reference: DT 08/2026

  • Salary: R582 444 per annum (Level 10)

  • Requirements: NQF Level 6 qualification in Tourism Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.

  • Role Focus: Evaluates and monitors tourism incentive programmes and ensures sustainable economic impact.

Assistant Director: Project Coordination and Reporting

  • Reference: DT 09/2026

  • Salary: R582 444 per annum (Level 10)

  • Role Focus: Coordinates tourism infrastructure and product development projects, including reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Assistant Director: Monitoring and Data Management

  • Reference: DT 10/2026

  • Salary: R582 444 per annum (Level 10)

  • Role Focus: Strengthens monitoring and evaluation systems, data management, reporting, and evidence-based planning.

Programme Planning and Implementation Officer (X2 Posts)

  • Reference: DT 11/2026

  • Salary: R397 116 per annum (Level 08)

  • Role Focus: Supports tourism and hospitality skills development programmes through project implementation, reporting, and compliance.
