The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Labour Relations Officer at its National Office in Pretoria. This post is suited to experienced labour relations practitioners with a strong understanding of public service legislation and employee relations.

Position Information

  • Salary: R397 116 per annum (Level 8)

The incumbent will be responsible for managing labour relations processes, advising management and employees, and ensuring compliance with relevant labour legislation and policies.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in:

    • Human Resource Management or

    • Labour Relations (SAQA-recognised)

  • A valid driver’s licence

  • 3–5 years’ experience in labour relations

  • Knowledge of public service labour legislation

  • Understanding of collective bargaining processes

  • Labour Relations Act

  • Employment Equity Act

  • Basic Conditions of Employment Act

  • Public Service Regulations

  • Disciplinary procedures

  • Collective bargaining systems


Key Responsibilities

Labour Relations Case Management

  • Handle grievances and misconduct cases

  • Represent the department at dispute resolution forums (e.g. CCMA)

  • Advise management and employees on labour relations matters

  • Promote workplace discipline and stability

Policy Development and Compliance

  • Assist with the development of labour relations policies

  • Monitor compliance with legislation and collective agreements

  • Provide guidance on labour-related procedures

Training and Development

  • Conduct labour relations training sessions

  • Educate employees on grievance and disciplinary processes

  • Promote awareness of labour legislation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate bargaining chamber meetings

  • Support labour–management communication

  • Strengthen workplace relations

Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain labour relations records

  • Compile monthly and annual reports

  • Support related administrative processes

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Report writing ability

  • Planning and organisational skills

  • Interviewing skills

  • Problem-solving ability

The successful candidate must be willing to work overtime and be on standby when required.
