The Department is recruiting for two finance-related positions within its Financial Management division.

1. Finance Clerk: Financial Control and Accounting

Contract Duration: 6 months
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R228,321 per year + 37% benefits

This role focuses on maintaining financial records, verifying transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data within government systems.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A Grade 12 certificate

  • Basic knowledge of financial administration practices

  • Understanding of public sector financial legislation, including:

    • PFMA

    • DORA

    • PSA

    • PSR

    • PPPFA

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Good communication and organisational skills

Experience with government financial systems such as PERSAL, BAS, LOGIS, or Safetyweb will be considered an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Clearing BAS system exceptions and processing journals

  • Updating financial entities on BAS and LOGIS

  • Verifying banking details through Safetyweb

  • Managing payment records and financial batches

  • Reconciling payment registers and financial reports

  • Filing and archiving financial documentation

  • Responding to internal and external financial queries

  • Maintaining records for audit and compliance


2. Finance Clerk: Creditors, Travel, Accommodation and Subsistence

Contract Duration: 6 months
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R228,321 per year + 37% benefits

This role focuses on managing creditor payments, travel claims, and financial documentation related to travel and subsistence expenses.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Matric with Mathematics and Accounting

  • Basic understanding of public sector financial regulations

  • Computer literacy and administrative skills

  • Good communication and numeracy skills

  • Ability to manage routine financial tasks independently

Knowledge of PERSAL, BAS, and LOGIS systems will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processing travel and subsistence claims

  • Verifying supporting documents such as travel requests, agendas, and receipts

  • Capturing claims on the PERSAL system

  • Managing travel advance payments

  • Recording and filing claims after payment processing

  • Verifying invoices and banking details

  • Processing procurement payments via LOGIS

  • Compiling payment registers

  • Responding to queries related to claims and payments
