Graduate Internship Programme: 2026/2027 – 2027/2028

The Department of Electricity and Energy (DEE) invites applications for its Graduate Internship Programme for the 2026/2027 – 2027/2028 financial years. The programme is intended for unemployed South African graduates seeking practical workplace experience within the public sector. Graduates living with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Internship Overview

The DEE Graduate Internship Programme aims to provide structured workplace exposure, skills development, and professional growth across a range of disciplines. Successful candidates will be placed at the Department’s offices in Pretoria for the full duration of the programme.

  • Stipend: R7 860.38 per month

  • Centre: Pretoria

  • Duration: 24 months (2026/2027 – 2027/2028)

Required Fields of Study

Applicants must possess a relevant Degree or National Diploma in one of the following fields:

  • Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering

  • Public Administration or Public Management

  • Business Management (Diploma or Degree)

  • Law (LLB)

  • Internal Audit

  • Administration or Office Administration

  • Finance, Accounting, or Management Accounting

  • Graphic Design or Integrated Communication Design

  • Financial Management (BCom / BTech)

  • Social Services, Psychology, or Social Work

  • Supply Chain Management

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizens who have not previously participated in any Government Internship Programme

  • Applicants requiring experiential training must submit an official letter from their tertiary institution

  • Applicants must make their own arrangements for accommodation and transport
