Minimum Requirements

Applicants must possess:

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Financial Management, Financial Accounting, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience within a financial management environment.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Applicants should also demonstrate knowledge of:

  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
  • Treasury Regulations
  • Public Service Act and Public Service Regulations
  • Post-School Education and Training (PSET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) legislation
  • NSFAS regulations and related legislation

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial accounting functions, including:

Revenue Management

  • Monitoring revenue collection and recording processes.
  • Overseeing cashier services, banking transactions, and electronic payments.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Performing bank reconciliations and safeguarding financial records.

Debt Management

  • Supervising debt collection activities.
  • Monitoring debtor accounts and repayment arrangements.
  • Ensuring accurate allocation and recording of payments.

Expenditure Management

  • Managing payroll-related financial transactions.
  • Overseeing expenditure on goods and services.
  • Ensuring compliance with approved budgets and financial regulations.
  • Authorising payments and maintaining financial controls.

Financial Reporting

  • Monitoring income and expenditure against budget allocations.
  • Reviewing financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with interim and annual financial reporting processes.

Staff Management

  • Supervising finance personnel.
  • Allocating duties and monitoring performance.
  • Facilitating employee development and mentoring.
  • Enhancing financial systems and operational efficiency.
