North West Government Vacancies 2026: Senior Management and Deputy Director Positions

The North West Provincial Government has officially announced multiple senior-level vacancies within the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

These positions are intended for experienced professionals with proven leadership and management capabilities who wish to contribute to effective governance and service delivery in the public sector.

Head of Department: Agriculture and Rural Development

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development invites applications for the position of Head of Department (HOD) on a 5-year fixed-term contract, based in Mmabatho.

Salary Package

  • R1 813 182 per annum

  • Plus a 10% non-pensionable allowance

  • Inclusive of a comprehensive benefits package

Minimum Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8, recognised by SAQA

  • At least 10 years’ senior management experience

  • Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and governance skills

  • Financial and project management experience

  • Sound knowledge of public sector governance

  • Proficiency in MS Office

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, manage departmental operations, oversee agricultural development programmes, and ensure effective financial administration.

Director: Traditional Institutional & Resource Administration

The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs seeks a Director to manage traditional institutional and resource administration services.

Salary

  • R1 266 714 per annum

Requirements

  • Grade 12

  • Degree (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration, Financial Management, or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ managerial experience

  • Knowledge of customary law and traditional governance systems

  • Valid driver’s license

  • R896 436 per annum

Requirements

  • Grade 12

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field

  • Valid driver’s license
