The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) has invited suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Director: Social Governance and Regulations for the Rights of Women. Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Social Sciences, Human Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s licence (excluding applicants with disabilities).
- A minimum of three years’ supervisory experience in a relevant environment.
Required Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Knowledge of policy development and legislative processes.
- Understanding of gender equality frameworks and women’s rights legislation.
- Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Leadership, project management, and strategic planning capabilities.
- Professionalism, integrity, and sound judgement.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed candidate will contribute to policy development and implementation aimed at promoting women’s rights and gender equality. Duties will include conducting research, supporting legislative reviews, coordinating stakeholder engagement, monitoring programme performance, preparing reports, and providing administrative and secretariat support within the unit.
The role also involves supporting the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide, maintaining stakeholder relations, and strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems.
