Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess the following:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Appropriate NQF Level 6 qualification in Animal Health or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA
- Registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician
- Valid driver’s licence (excluding applicants with disabilities)
- No prior work experience required
Candidates should also demonstrate good communication skills, report-writing ability, computer literacy, and knowledge of animal health legislation and disease control programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Implement animal disease control measures
- Support veterinarians with disease management and livestock production initiatives
- Collect samples and assist with enforcement of animal health legislation
- Provide extension and advisory services to livestock farmers
- Maintain databases and prepare monthly and quarterly reports
