Northern Cape Provincial Treasury Announces Vacancies for 2026
The Northern Cape Provincial Treasury has officially opened applications for three Chief Financial Officer (CFO) vacancies within key provincial departments in Kimberley. Available CFO Positions
Applications are invited for the following positions:
- Department of Roads and Public Works (Reference: NCPT/2026/20)
- Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison (Reference: NCPT/2026/21)
- Department of Agriculture, Environmental and Land Reform (Reference: NCPT/2026/22)
All positions are based in Kimberley and are classified at Salary Level 14, offering a competitive total cost-to-employer package ranging from R1 494 900 to R1 787 328 per annum.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- An NQF Level 7 qualification in Finance, Accounting, or an equivalent field
- A postgraduate qualification in Finance or Accounting will be advantageous
- A minimum of five years’ relevant experience at senior management level in financial management
- A valid driver’s licence
Candidates should also demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, budgeting frameworks, and financial governance practices applicable within the South African public sector.
Required Competencies and Skills
The successful candidates must possess strong leadership and strategic management capabilities, including:
- Strategic planning and organisational management
- Financial management and reporting expertise
- Policy analysis and development
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Conflict management and facilitation abilities
- Knowledge of budgeting and Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) processes
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Additional experience in auditing, supply chain management, and employee performance systems will be considered beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed CFOs will be responsible for overseeing financial governance and ensuring efficient resource management within their respective departments.
Core duties include:
Financial Strategy and Advisory
Providing strategic financial guidance to departmental leadership and supporting the implementation of effective financial management strategies.
Budget and Financial Planning
Managing budget preparation, expenditure monitoring, cash flow forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Financial Administration and Compliance
Overseeing accounting services, salary administration, internal audit implementation, and financial compliance systems.
Supply Chain and Asset Management
Managing procurement systems, asset control measures, supply chain processes, and disposal management.
Staff Leadership and Management
Leading finance teams through performance management, training, supervision, and operational coordination.
