Office of the Chief Justice Announces Multiple Job Vacancies Across South Africa – Closing Date: 20 February 2026

The Office of the Chief Justice (OCJ) invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for various vacant positions across its National Office and Provincial Service Centres. These opportunities are available within the fields of Human Resources, Finance, Legal Administration, and Court Services.

The OCJ is a respected constitutional institution responsible for supporting the judiciary and strengthening South Africa’s justice system. Applications close on 20 February 2026.

Available Positions

1. Deputy Director: Human Resource Management

Location: Western Cape Provincial Service Centre (Cape Town)
Salary: R896 436 – R1 055 958 per annum (Level 11)

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma (3 years) in HR Management/Development or Public Administration

  • 5 years’ HR experience (3 years at Junior Management level)

  • Knowledge of OSD and Public Service legislation

  • Valid driver’s license

This position entails managing provincial HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance oversight.


2. Assistant Director: Recruitment and Selection

Location: National Office, Midrand
Salary: R468 459 – R551 823 per annum (Level 09)

Requirements:

  • National Diploma (NQF 6) in HR/Public Administration or related field

  • 3 years’ relevant experience (1 year at supervisory level)

  • Knowledge of Public Service legislation and OSD

Responsible for overseeing recruitment processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.


3. Assistant Director: Financial Systems (12-Month Contract)

Location: National Office, Midrand
Salary: R468 459 – R551 823 per annum + 37% in lieu of benefits

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Accounting/Financial Management/Information Systems

  • 3 years’ experience in financial systems

  • Knowledge of LOGIS, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations

Duties include managing financial systems, providing user support, and ensuring regulatory compliance.


4. Judge’s Secretary

Location: North West High Court, Mmabatho
Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (Level 07)

Requirements:

  • Grade 12

  • LLB degree or minimum 20 completed LLB modules

  • 1 year secretarial experience

Provides administrative and legal support to a Judge, including typing judgments and managing court documentation.


5. Registrar

Location: North West Division of the High Court, Mmabatho
Salary: R324 579 – R1 111 323 (MR3–MR5, based on experience)

Requirements:

  • LLB degree or 4-year legal qualification

  • 3 years’ post-qualification legal experience

  • Superior Court experience advantageous

Responsible for quasi-judicial functions including processing default judgments and managing court performance statistics.


6. Registrar’s Clerk: Caseflow

Location: Western Cape High Court, Cape Town
Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)

Requirements:

  • Grade 12

  • 1 year administrative experience (court experience preferred)

Provides caseflow and administrative support within the High Court.


7. Human Resource Clerk

Location: Mpumalanga Provincial Service Centre
Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 05)

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF 4)

  • HR Diploma advantageous

  • No prior experience required

Provides administrative support within HR operations.
