North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management Announces Senior Director Vacancies for 2026

The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management has opened applications for two senior management positions at its Head Office in Mahikeng. As part of the Provincial Administration: North West, the department seeks experienced professionals to strengthen transport regulation, governance systems, and strategic oversight within the province.

Management Echelon Vacancies

1. Director: Transport Operator Licence and Permits

Reference No: 69/2025/26
Salary: R1 266 741 per annum (Level 13, inclusive package)
Centre: Head Office – Mahikeng

Reporting to the Chief Directorate: Transport Regulations, this position oversees the regulatory framework governing public transport operations in the North West Province.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Transport, Management, or Administration (SAQA-recognised)

  • Minimum five years’ experience at middle or senior management level within a transport management environment

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Extensive knowledge of the National Land Transport Act and the White Paper on National Transport Policy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor compliance with operating licence conditions

  • Manage licensing administrative systems and regulatory committees

  • Address public transport conflicts within provincial and municipal plans

  • Oversee Provincial Regulatory Bodies

  • Provide strategic leadership and policy implementation guidance

The successful candidate will enter into a performance agreement and employment contract.


2. Director: Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation

Reference No: 70/2025/26
Salary: R1 266 741 per annum (Level 13, inclusive package)
Centre: Head Office – Mahikeng

Reporting to the Chief Directorate: Corporate Services, this role strengthens governance systems, performance oversight, and policy coordination across the department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Public Management, Administration, or Monitoring & Evaluation (SAQA-recognised)

  • Minimum five years’ experience at middle or senior management level in strategic planning and M&E

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Strong knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act and public service regulations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead departmental strategic and operational planning processes

  • Manage performance monitoring systems

  • Oversee evaluation and research initiatives

  • Coordinate departmental research plans

  • Align budgets with strategic objectives

  • Strengthen internal governance and accountability systems
