Senior Legal Leadership Opportunities

Senior State Advocate – Sexual Offences and Community Affairs (SOCA)
The NPA is recruiting Senior State Advocates within the SOCA Unit for placements in:

  • Nelspruit

  • Durban

  • Bloemfontein

  • Mmabatho

This senior-level position offers a salary ranging from R1 195 110 to R1 859 814 per annum. Applicants must hold an LLB degree and have a minimum of eight years’ post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.

Key responsibilities include overseeing SOCA mandates, managing Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCCs), guiding investigations, prosecuting complex cases, and coordinating gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives.

Regional Court Control Prosecutor – Kimberley (De Aar)

Based in Kimberley (De Aar), this role offers a remuneration package ranging from R1 032 906 to R1 675 743 per annum.
Applicants must possess at least six years’ post-qualification legal experience, with demonstrated leadership, case management, and courtroom skills.

Responsibilities include managing court rolls, mentoring prosecutors, and prosecuting complex criminal matters.

State Advocate Positions

State Advocate vacancies are available in:

  • Kimberley

  • Mthatha

With salaries ranging from R932 904 to R1 539 321 per annum, candidates must have at least five years’ post-qualification legal experience. Duties include prosecuting serious offences, handling GBV-related cases, drafting legal documentation, and appearing in appeal and motion proceedings.

Regional and District Court Prosecutors

Additional Regional Court Prosecutor and District Court Control Prosecutor positions are available in:

  • Moretele

  • Welkom

  • Ga-Rankuwa

  • Hartswater

These roles focus on prosecution management, investigation guidance, drafting charge sheets, and performance management of prosecutors.

Protection and Security Leadership

Deputy Chief Protector – Office of Witness Protection (Kimberley)
This senior management position offers a total package of R1 059 105 per annum.

Applicants must have a relevant policing qualification and at least six years’ experience. Responsibilities include overseeing witness protection operations, managing admissions, coordinating high-risk protection, and engaging with key stakeholders. Successful candidates must obtain top-secret security clearance and be available on a 24/7 basis.

Victim Support and Community-Based Roles

Thuthuzela Care Centre (TCC) Co-ordinator – Emalahleni (Witbank)
This position offers a salary of R397 116 per annum.

Responsibilities include coordinating survivor support services, facilitating medical examinations, liaising with law enforcement and prosecutors, and managing stakeholder relations. A degree or diploma in Law or Social Sciences, along with relevant experience, is required.

Court Preparation Officers

Court Preparation Officer vacancies are available in:

  • Taung

  • Atlantis

With a salary of R325 101 per annum, these roles provide emotional and procedural support to victims and witnesses—particularly children—to prevent secondary trauma during court proceedings.

Administrative and Support Positions

The NPA also invites applications for various administrative roles, including:

  • Administrative Clerk – Pretoria

  • Supply Chain Clerk – Mthatha

Applicants must have relevant qualifications, administrative experience, knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations, and strong organizational skills.
