The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has announced multiple employment opportunities across senior, middle, and junior management levels within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) and the Office of the Premier (OTP). Vacancies at the Department of Economic Development and Tourism

Deputy Director Positions (Salary Level 12)

Vacancies are available in the following areas:

  • Enterprise Development

  • Research and Development

  • Consumer Education

Key responsibilities include strategic planning, programme management, stakeholder engagement, research oversight, and the implementation of MSME and consumer protection initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Appropriate NQF Level 7 qualification

  • Minimum of three years’ experience at junior management level

Salary: R1,059,105 per annum (all-inclusive)


Assistant Director: Trade and Investment Promotion (Salary Level 10)

  • Location: Ehlanzeni District

  • Focus areas include export promotion, trade missions, MSME development, and investment facilitation.

Requirements:

  • NQF Level 6 qualification

  • At least three years’ relevant experience

Salary: R582,444 per annum


Senior Management Positions at the Office of the Premier

The Office of the Premier invites applications for Director (Level 13) and Chief Director (Level 14) positions in the following portfolios:

  • Corporate Management

  • Human Rights and Transformation

  • Internal Human Resource Management

  • Forensic Investigations

  • Integrity Management and Governance

  • Integrated Security Management

  • Corporate Communication Services

  • Research Services

  • Policy Development and Support

  • Macro Planning

  • Information and Knowledge Management

  • Monitoring and Evaluation

These roles require experienced leaders with at least five years’ experience at middle or senior management level, along with strong strategic, governance, and leadership capabilities.

Salary Packages:

  • Directors (Level 13): R1,266,714 per annum

  • Chief Directors (Level 14): R1,494,900 per annum

All SMS candidates must complete the SMS Pre-Entry Programme through the National School of Government prior to appointment.


Research and Specialist Positions

Additional Assistant Director and Deputy Director roles are available in:

  • Infrastructure Research

  • Social, Economic and Governance Research

  • Policy Development

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Vetting and Security Services

These roles support evidence-based planning, monitoring, and evaluation across provincial departments.
