The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) has announced multiple vacancies across South Africa as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening mine safety, occupational health, and regulatory compliance.

Available Positions

1. Principal Inspector (Ref No: 058, 059, 060)

Salary: R1,266,714 per annum
Level: 13 (All-inclusive package)
Locations: Witbank, Durban, Port Elizabeth

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Mining, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Mine Manager’s Certificate or Engineering Certificate of Competency

  • Minimum 5 years management experience in mining

  • Valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Mine Health and Safety Directorate operations

  • Conduct inspections and audits

  • Investigate accidents and occupational health issues

  • Oversee equipment licensing and compliance

2. Medical Inspector (Ref No: 061)

Salary: R1,266,714 per annum
Location: Pretoria

Requirements:

  • MBChB qualification

  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Medicine (NQF 8)

  • HPCSA registration

  • 5 years management experience

Responsibilities:

  • Handle medical fitness disputes

  • Analyse occupational health data

  • Support accident investigations

  • Provide expert health guidance in mining environments

3. Senior Inspector of Mines – Occupational Hygiene (Ref No: 062)

Salary: R1,059,105 per annum
Location: Klerksdorp

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Occupational Hygiene or Environmental Health

  • Mine Environmental Control Certificate

  • 3–5 years relevant experience

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hygiene inspections

  • Assess occupational risks

  • Analyse accident trends

  • Advise on health standards

4. Inspector – Mine Equipment (Ref No: 063)

Salary: R896,436 per annum
Location: Klerksdorp

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Engineering Certificate of Competency

  • 3 years mining experience

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect equipment and systems

  • Conduct compliance audits

  • License and test mining equipment

5. Inspector – Mine Health and Safety (Ref No: 064)

Salary: R896,436 per annum
Location: Rustenburg

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Mining Engineering

  • Mine Manager’s Certificate

  • 3 years experience

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect safety systems and operations

  • Investigate incidents

  • Assist with regulatory improvements

6. Internal Auditor: Information Technology (Ref No: 065)

Salary: R397,116 per annum
Location: Pretoria

Requirements:

  • National Diploma in IT, Internal Auditing, Accounting, or related field

  • 2 years IT audit experience

Responsibilities:

  • Perform IT audits

  • Evaluate internal controls

  • Report audit findings

  • Monitor implementation of recommendations
