Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development Announces Senior Engineering, Architecture and Legal Vacancies – Apply by 27 February 2026
The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) has opened applications for several senior and specialist positions based at its Johannesburg Head Office and associated facilities. 1. Chief Engineer: Civil/Structural

Salary: R1 266 450 – R2 388 657 per annum (all-inclusive)
Location: Head Office, Johannesburg
The department seeks a registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of six years’ post-qualification experience in civil or structural engineering. Applicants must hold a BEng or BSc Eng qualification and be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
Key Responsibilities:

Review and approve engineering designs and audits.

Coordinate multidisciplinary infrastructure delivery projects.

Oversee maintenance strategies and engineering standards.

Manage capital project portfolios and budgets in line with MTEF objectives.

The role requires advanced leadership, financial management, and strategic planning capabilities, along with sound knowledge of public sector legislation including the PFMA, OHS Act, and Infrastructure Delivery Management frameworks.
2. Chief Architect

Salary: R1 088 488 – R2 027 811 per annum (all-inclusive)
Location: Johannesburg Head Office
Applications are invited from Professional Architects registered with SACAP and possessing at least six years’ post-qualification experience.
Core Functions:

Approve and audit architectural designs.

Oversee asset management systems and planning processes.

Provide technical advisory services on architectural matters.

3. Legal Administration Officer: Contract Administration (MR 3–5)

Location: Head Office
Applicants must hold an LLB degree and have at least two years’ post-qualification experience in legal contract administration.
Key Duties:

Drafting, vetting, and reviewing contracts, SLAs, MOUs, and procurement agreements.

Assisting with pre-contract negotiations.

Managing legal correspondence related to breaches and disputes.

Supporting business units with contract compliance.
Strong knowledge of administrative, contract, and property law, as well as public finance legislation, is required. Excellent drafting, analytical, and research skills are essential.
4. Engineer Production: Electrical Grade A–C

Salary: R879 342 – R1 323 267 per annum (all-inclusive)
Location: Head Office, Johannesburg
The department invites applications from Professional Engineers in Electrical Engineering with at least three years’ post-qualification experience and valid ECSA registration.
Responsibilities:

Design, operate, and maintain engineering projects.

Develop tender specifications and evaluate engineering designs.

Mentor technicians and candidate engineers.

5. Construction Project Manager Grade A–C (3 Posts)

Registered Professional Construction Project Managers (SACPCMP) with qualifications in the built environment are invited to apply. A minimum of 3–4+ years of relevant experience is required, depending on qualification level.
Key Functions:

Applicants must possess an appropriate Trade Test Certificate and at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience.
Main Duties:
