Department of Trade, Industry and Competition Announces Senior Management Vacancies in Pretoria

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) invites suitably qualified and experienced professionals to apply for several senior and middle management positions based at the dtic Campus in Sunnyside, Pretoria. The closing date for applications is 09 March 2026.

These appointments form part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, security, case administration, and enterprise-wide risk management in support of effective public service delivery and regulatory compliance.


Deputy Director: Security Services

Reference: CMSB-027
Salary: R896 436 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package)
Location: Sunnyside, Pretoria

The Deputy Director: Security Services will be responsible for managing and coordinating physical security operations across the department and its regional offices, ensuring compliance with the Minimum Physical Security Standards (MPSS) and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of physical security systems such as CCTV, access control, alarms, and X-ray equipment.

  • Conducting threat and risk assessments.

  • Managing security service provider contracts.

  • Coordinating event security in compliance with SASREA and SAPS requirements.

  • Managing asset registers and the lifecycle of security equipment.

  • Compiling analytical security reports for senior management.

  • Liaising with stakeholders including SAPS, SSA, DIRCO, and metropolitan police services.

  • Supervising security personnel and ensuring PSIRA compliance.

Requirements:
An NQF Level 7 qualification in Security Management, Physical Security, or Risk Management (SAQA-recognised), PSIRA Grade A registration, and at least 3–5 years’ managerial experience in a security environment.


Manager: Case Management & Administration

Salary: R896 436 per annum (Level 11, all-inclusive package)
Location: Sunnyside, Pretoria

This role is responsible for establishing and managing an effective case management and administration system that supports compliance, efficiency, and accountability within the department.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing case management policies and procedures.

  • Establishing service standards and turnaround times.

  • Managing registry, courier, and archiving systems.

  • Monitoring document tracking and case movement.

  • Conducting research and reporting on case trends.

  • Ensuring compliance with B-BBEE legislation and governance frameworks.

  • Preparing operational and statistical reports for senior management.

Requirements:
An NQF Level 7 qualification in Public Administration, Law, Business Administration, Records Management, or a related field, with 3–5 years’ managerial experience in case management and knowledge of PFMA, PAIA, PAJA, and corporate governance frameworks.


Assistant Director: Risk Management

Reference: ODG-021
Salary: R468 459 per annum (Level 09)
Location: Sunnyside, Pretoria

The Assistant Director: Risk Management will support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of strategic and operational risks across the department.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating branch-level risk identification and assessments.

  • Maintaining and updating risk registers.

  • Preparing quarterly risk management reports.

  • Providing risk awareness training and advisory services.

  • Coordinating responses to internal and Auditor-General findings.

  • Supporting the development of risk appetite and tolerance frameworks.

  • Assisting risk governance committees.

Requirements:
An NQF Level 7 qualification in Risk Management, Public Administration, Commerce, Finance, or Internal Auditing, with 3–5 years’ relevant experience and sound knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and public service governance.
