Department of Trade, Industry and Competition Opens Applications for Multiple Vacancies
The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) has announced several employment opportunities for qualified professionals seeking to contribute to South Africa’s industrial growth and economic transformation objectives. Applications for all advertised positions close on 23 June 2026.
Chief Director: Primary Minerals Processing and Construction
The department is recruiting a Chief Director: Primary Minerals Processing and Construction on a 12-month contract basis. The position is based in Sunnyside, Pretoria, and falls within the Industrial Competitiveness and Growth Branch.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership aimed at strengthening South Africa’s industrial development agenda within the primary minerals processing and construction sectors. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing sector strategies, managing stakeholder engagement, overseeing policy initiatives, and ensuring effective governance of financial and human resources.
Applicants must hold an NQF Level 7 qualification in Science, Engineering, Mineral Economics, Commerce, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of five years’ senior management experience in industrial or economic policy development.
The position offers an all-inclusive remuneration package of R1.55 million per annum.
B-BBEE Compliance and Advocacy Officers
The dtic is also seeking to appoint three B-BBEE Compliance and Advocacy Officers to support the promotion and monitoring of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment compliance.
The successful candidates will be responsible for reviewing compliance reports, engaging stakeholders, facilitating awareness programmes, and supporting educational initiatives related to B-BBEE legislation and regulations.
Candidates must possess an NQF Level 6 qualification in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economic Sciences, Law, Communication, Education, Public Relations, or a related discipline. A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a compliance environment is required.
The positions offer an annual salary of R338,106.
B-BBEE Investigations and Enforcement Officers
In addition, the department is recruiting two B-BBEE Investigations and Enforcement Officers to strengthen regulatory compliance and enforcement efforts.
Responsibilities include investigating complaints, enforcing compliance with B-BBEE legislation, facilitating dispute resolution processes, maintaining complaint management systems, and preparing investigative reports.
Applicants must hold an NQF Level 6 qualification in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economic Science, Law, or a related field, together with at least three years of relevant investigations and enforcement experience.
The positions carry an annual remuneration package of R338,106.
