Department of Land Reform and Rural Development Opens Applications for June 2026 Vacancies
The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) has announced a number of employment opportunities for experienced professionals seeking to contribute to South Africa’s rural development, infrastructure expansion, youth empowerment, and public service objectives.

Senior Management Vacancies
Chief Director: NARYSEC and Rural Skills Development
Location: Pretoria
Salary Package: R1.55 million per annum
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the National Rural Youth Service Corps (NARYSEC) programme and oversee rural skills development initiatives designed to enhance employment prospects and economic participation within rural communities.
Director: NARYSEC
Location: Kimberley, Northern Cape
Salary Package: R1.31 million per annum
This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing youth development programmes, managing provincial NARYSEC operations, and facilitating skills development interventions aimed at empowering young people.
Director: Community Mobilisation, Institution Building and Poverty Reduction
Location: Pretoria
The department is seeking a qualified professional to lead programmes focused on poverty alleviation, community mobilisation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable socio-economic development in rural areas.
Director: Rural Infrastructure Development
Locations:
- Polokwane, Limpopo
- Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal
Both positions offer remuneration packages exceeding R1.3 million annually. Successful applicants will oversee rural infrastructure projects, coordinate stakeholders, and support development initiatives that improve service delivery and economic growth in rural communities.
Director: Projects
Location: Pretoria
This role focuses on economic research, project management, statistical analysis, and evidence-based planning to support informed decision-making and strengthen rural development programmes.
Additional Professional Positions
Assistant Director: Information Communication Technology (ICT)
Location: Mmabatho, North West
Salary: R487,197 per annum
The successful candidate will be responsible for ICT infrastructure management, network administration, server maintenance, systems support, and user assistance services.
State Accountant: PLAS Management Services
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R338,106 per annum
Key responsibilities include financial reporting, payment administration, vendor reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with public financial management requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements vary by position; however, most Senior Management Service (SMS) roles require:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)
- Nyukela Certificate (SMS Pre-entry Programme)
- Minimum of five years’ management experience
- Valid driver’s licence
