The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has announced multiple permanent vacancies for suitably qualified professionals. These appointments form part of the department’s strategic objective to strengthen leadership capacity, enhance governance, and advance its digital transformation agenda in delivering a modern public service.

🔔 Available Positions

1️⃣ Senior Legal Administration Officer (MR-6) – Drafting Directorate

Reference: HRMC 4/26/1
Number of Posts: 3
Location: Head Office, Tshwane
Salary: R586,956 – R1,386,972 per annum

Minimum Requirements:

  • LLB degree recognised by SAQA

  • Minimum 8 years’ post-qualification legal experience

  • Legislative drafting experience (advantageous)

  • Admission as Attorney or Advocate (advantageous)

  • Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and amend primary and subordinate legislation

  • Facilitate legislative processes through Parliament

  • Provide legal advisory services on departmental legislation

  • Manage PAIA requests and international agreements

  • Ensure governance, compliance, and audit adherence

  • Support digital transformation initiatives


2️⃣ Assistant Director: Immigration Services – Inspectorate

Reference: HRMC 4/26/3
Number of Posts: 1
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Salary: R582,444 – R686,091 per annum

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 6 qualification in Law, Policing, Criminology, or related field

  • 3 years’ supervisory experience in law enforcement or security

  • Code C1 driver’s licence with valid PDP

  • Willingness to travel (including international travel)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee immigration inspectorate operations

  • Enforce Immigration and Refugee legislation

  • Investigate and manage immigration transgressions

  • Coordinate compliance inspections and projects

  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies

  • Manage personnel, resources, and operational risk


3️⃣ Assistant Director: Labour Relations

Reference: HRMC 4/26/2
Number of Posts: 1
Location: Free State Provincial Manager’s Office
Salary: R468,459 – R551,823 per annum

Minimum Requirements:

  • NQF Level 6 qualification in Labour Relations or Labour Law

  • 3 years’ experience as a Labour Relations Practitioner

  • Knowledge of Public Service and Labour legislation

  • Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage disciplinary and misconduct proceedings

  • Represent the department in arbitration and mediation

  • Handle grievances and labour disputes

  • Engage with labour unions and stakeholders

  • Conduct labour law research and reporting

  • Implement compliance and risk control measures
