Department of Basic Education Vacancies 2026 – Apply Before 27 March

1. Director: Legal Services

Reference: DBE/15/2026
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R1 266 714 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor of Law or Legal Degree (NQF Level 7) recognised by SAQA

  • Admission as an Attorney or Advocate

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience at middle or senior management level

  • Experience in Education Law

  • Strong understanding of the South African legal system

  • Leadership, strategic management, and decision-making skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage the Directorate of Legal Services

  • Provide legal advice to the Department of Basic Education

  • Support litigation matters involving the department

  • Coordinate and monitor implementation of education legislation

  • Draft legal opinions, contracts, and agreements

  • Manage court matters involving the Minister and Director-General


2. Provisioning Administrative Officer

Reference: DBE/17/2026
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R325 101 per annum

Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • A three-year post-matric qualification (NQF Level 6)

  • At least 1 year experience in Supply Chain Management

  • Experience using the LOGIS system and Central Supplier Database (CSD)

  • Knowledge of government procurement policies including:

    • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

    • Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act

Key Duties

  • Source quotations for goods and services

  • Ensure procurement processes comply with regulations

  • Support Bid Specification and Evaluation Committees

  • Manage LOGIS transactions and requisitions

  • Supervise junior staff and monitor performance


3. Senior Secretary

Reference: DBE/19/2026
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R269 499 per annum

Requirements

  • Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification

  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Knowledge of public sector administrative processes

Key Duties

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Director

  • Manage schedules, meetings, and travel arrangements

  • Handle calls, emails, and correspondence

  • Maintain filing systems and documentation

  • Assist with report preparation and meeting coordination


4. Senior Provisioning Administration Clerk (Travel)

Reference: DBE/18/2026
Location: Pretoria
Salary: R228 321 per annum

Requirements

  • Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification

  • Knowledge of travel and accommodation processes

  • Familiarity with BAS system, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations

  • Good organisational and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Process travel approvals and documentation

  • Capture financial transactions on the BAS system

  • Verify invoices and financial records

  • Maintain travel records and reports

  • Respond to finance and travel-related queries
