Department of Land Reform and Rural Development Opens Applications for Multiple Vacancies Nationwide

The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) has announced a variety of employment opportunities across South Africa, offering career prospects for qualified professionals in legal services, information technology, surveying, administration, governance, and senior management.

Senior Management Position Available

Among the key vacancies is the position of Registrar of Deeds, based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. This senior management role is responsible for overseeing deeds registration operations, ensuring legal compliance, managing staff, and maintaining the effective functioning of the Deeds Registry.

The position offers a remuneration package exceeding R1.4 million per annum and requires extensive experience in deeds registration and property conveyancing.

Legal Services Opportunities

The Department is seeking an experienced legal professional to fill the role of Senior Restitution Advisor in Pretoria. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance on land restitution matters, coordinate litigation processes, support negotiations between stakeholders, and contribute to the resolution of land claims.

The position carries a competitive salary package of more than R1.1 million per annum and requires significant post-qualification legal experience.

Governance and Risk Management Careers

Professionals with expertise in governance, compliance, and risk management are invited to apply for the position of Deputy Director: Business Continuity. The role focuses on developing business continuity strategies, disaster recovery planning, and ensuring organisational resilience during operational disruptions.

Candidates with qualifications in risk management, internal auditing, or information and communication technology will be well suited for this opportunity.

Surveying and Geomatics Vacancies

The Department has also advertised positions within its surveying and geomatics functions, including Control Survey Technician and Survey Technician (Grade A–C) positions in Pretoria.

Applicants must be registered with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) and possess relevant experience in surveying, spatial data management, cartography, and mapping services. Successful candidates will support land surveying projects, spatial information management, and technical research initiatives.

ICT Career Opportunities

As part of its continued digital transformation efforts, the Department is recruiting for several information and communication technology positions, including:

  • Assistant Director: Project Administration (PMO)
  • Assistant Director: System Testing
  • Control Network Controller
  • Senior ICT Support Officer

These roles encompass project management support, software testing, network administration, ICT governance, and technical support functions. Candidates with qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Ethics and Fraud Prevention

The Department is also seeking to strengthen its integrity and anti-corruption initiatives through the appointment of an Assistant Director: Fraud Prevention and Ethics Management.

The successful candidate will assist with fraud risk assessments, ethics awareness programmes, fraud trend analysis, and the implementation of preventative measures across the Department.

Administrative Support Vacancy

A vacancy for a Senior Administrative Officer is available in KwaZulu-Natal. The position involves records management, registry administration, database maintenance, and information management support within the land restitution environment.

Candidates with qualifications or experience in records management, information science, or business administration are encouraged to apply.
