The department is seeking a highly experienced executive with extensive senior management expertise in public administration, social sciences, or public management. The role includes overseeing policy implementation, strengthening intergovernmental coordination, and ensuring effective management of departmental programmes.
The DSD is also recruiting for a Deputy Director-General: Community Development position, with an annual package of more than R1.8 million. The role focuses on poverty alleviation, community empowerment initiatives, sustainable development programmes, and the coordination of non-profit organisations.
Social Work and Policy Management Opportunities
Experienced social work professionals are encouraged to apply for two specialised management roles within the department.
The first position focuses on Intercountry Adoptions and involves coordinating adoption policies, monitoring international adoption processes, and facilitating collaboration with international stakeholders within the Hague Convention framework.
The second role centres on Victim Empowerment and Gender-Based Violence Prevention. The successful candidate will oversee programmes supporting survivors of violence and crime, while contributing to the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
Both positions offer remuneration packages exceeding R1 million annually and require registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
NPO Administration and Compliance Roles
The department has also advertised opportunities in non-profit administration and compliance management.
The Deputy Director: NPO Registration role includes oversight of NPO registration systems, data governance, and regulatory compliance in terms of the NPO Act.
In addition, the Senior NPO Officer vacancy is aimed at candidates with experience in the development or non-profit sector. Responsibilities include assessing NPO documentation, coordinating outreach initiatives, and monitoring compliance with governance and anti-money laundering regulations.
