Department of Higher Education and Training Vacancies 2026

Each position offers a remuneration package of R338,106 per annum (Level 07).


1. Internal Auditor (Ref: MOT/DHET/INTER-AUD/CO/2026)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or National Diploma in Internal Auditing, B.Com Accounting, or a related qualification
  • At least two years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of auditing standards, methodologies, and frameworks
  • Registration with the Institute of Internal Auditors (SA)
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Key Duties:

  • Conduct internal audit assignments
  • Develop audit plans, programs, and working papers
  • Compile and present audit reports
  • Support assurance processes and governance structures
  • Supervise audit activities and junior personnel

2. Internal Auditor (College Council Post)

This role carries similar requirements and responsibilities to the standard Internal Auditor position, with additional alignment to governance and oversight functions within the College Council. It is particularly suited to candidates interested in institutional accountability and compliance.


3. State Accountant: Budgeting (Ref: MOT/DHET/STA-ACC/CO/2026)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Cost & Management Accounting
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in budgeting or financial management
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting capabilities
  • Knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license

Key Duties:

  • Develop and manage institutional budgets
  • Monitor expenditure and cash flow
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting
  • Support audit and compliance processes
  • Provide guidance on budget utilization across departments
