The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for three (3) positions of Assistant Director: Labour Relations. Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Labour Relations or a related qualification recognised by SAQA
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in labour relations
  • Sound knowledge of:
    • Labour Relations Act
    • Disciplinary procedures and codes
    • Grievance handling processes
    • Mediation and arbitration practices
    • Public service legislation and applicable resolutions

Candidates should also possess strong communication, analytical, and report-writing skills, along with the ability to manage conflict and work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Managing misconduct, disciplinary, and dispute cases
  • Conducting investigations and compiling detailed reports
  • Drafting charges for disciplinary proceedings
  • Representing the department in hearings and arbitration processes
  • Facilitating grievance resolution
  • Providing expert advice on labour relations policies
  • Preparing and submitting comprehensive reports
