Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness Vacancies – 2026

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness has announced a range of healthcare and administrative vacancies for the 2026 intake. These opportunities are available across multiple hospitals and health districts within the province and are intended to strengthen public health service delivery in both clinical and support functions.

Available Positions

Medical Officer Posts (Grade 1–3)

Medical Officer vacancies are available in the following specialties:

  • Paediatrics

  • Paediatrics and Neonatology

  • Internal Medicine

Placement hospitals include:

  • Worcester Regional Hospital

  • New Somerset Hospital

  • Victoria Hospital

  • Tygerberg Hospital

Salary: R1 001 349 – R1 322 352 per annum (commensurate with experience and grade)

Applicants must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and be prepared to render after-hours and overtime services as required.

Nursing and Clinical Positions

The department is recruiting for the following roles:

  • Clinical Programme Coordinator (Mental Health, Chronic and Rehabilitation Services)

  • Professional Nurse (Occupational Health)

  • Professional Nurse (Operating Theatre and Maternity)

  • Clinical Nurse Practitioner (Primary Health Care)

Locations include:

  • Overberg District

  • Garden Route District

  • Metro Health Services

Salary range: R476 367 – R583 989 per annum

Allied Health and Technical Posts

Vacancies are also available for:

  • Ultrasound Radiographer (Sonographer)

  • Diagnostic Radiographer

  • Physiotherapist

  • Occupational Therapist

  • Industrial Technician: Clinical Engineering (Optics)

These positions support essential diagnostic, rehabilitation, and technical services in public healthcare facilities.

Administrative and Management Positions

Non-clinical vacancies include:

  • Assistant Director: Human Resources (PERSAL Systems)

  • Quality Assurance Manager

  • Senior Administrative Officer: Supply Chain Management

These roles focus on governance, compliance, quality management, and operational support.

General Requirements

  • Appropriate and relevant qualifications

  • Registration with the relevant professional council (HPCSA or SANC)

  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or travel where required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
