The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) has released its 2026 recruitment notice, inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for a variety of positions in finance, accounting, budgeting, property management, occupational health and safety, and administration.

These opportunities are available across multiple provinces, including Gauteng, Western Cape, North West, Mpumalanga, Free State, Limpopo, and Eastern Cape.

Senior Management

  • Deputy Director: Financial Accounting
    Salary: R896 436 per annum

Assistant Director Posts

  • Occupational Health & Safety (Building Compliance) – Nelspruit

  • Budgets – Cape Town

  • Revenue & Debt Management – Pretoria

  • Property Payments – Bloemfontein

  • Property Budget Administration – Pretoria

Salary: R468 459 – R582 444 per annum

Senior State Accountant

  • Property Payments – Mthatha & Polokwane

  • Budget – Polokwane

Salary: R397 116 per annum

State Accountant

  • Internal Control – Bloemfontein

  • Property Payments – Bloemfontein & Gqeberha

  • Costing, Funding & Budget Management (2 posts) – Pretoria

Salary: R325 101 per annum

Administrative & Clerical Positions

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6 or higher) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Engineering, or Administration (as applicable)

  • Relevant experience in public finance, budgeting, property payments, internal controls, or administration

  • Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and GRAP/GAAP

  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Excel

  • Valid driver’s licence where required
