The Limpopo Department of Health has announced a range of permanent and contract employment opportunities for the 2026 recruitment cycle. Suitably qualified South African citizens and permanent residents are invited to apply for positions across provincial hospitals and the Head Office.

The vacancies cover management, clinical, medical, emergency medical services, and risk management disciplines. In line with employment equity objectives, women and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Available Positions

Management Echelon

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Nkhensani Hospital

  • Salary: R1,266,714 per annum (Level 13)

  • Requirements: Health-related degree, professional registration, and a minimum of 5 years’ senior management experience in the health sector

  • Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, hospital operations, financial management, and clinical governance


Clinical & Academic Posts

Head of Clinical Department (Grade 1)

  • Disciplines: Family Medicine; Paediatrics & Child Health

  • Centres: Mankweng Hospital, Pietersburg Hospital

  • Salary: R2,600,811 per annum plus rural allowance

  • Joint appointment with the University of Limpopo

  • Requires specialist registration with the HPCSA and academic involvement

Head of Clinical Unit (Grade 1) – Multiple Specialties

  • Centres: Pietersburg, Mankweng, Letaba, Tshilidzini, Mokopane, St Rita’s/Philadelphia, Thabamoopo Hospitals

  • Salary: R2,084,754 per annum (rural allowance applicable at selected institutions)

  • Focus areas include clinical leadership, governance, teaching, and service development


Medical Management

Senior Clinical Manager: Medical (Grade 1)

  • Centre: Letaba Hospital

  • Salary: R1,647,630 per annum plus rural allowance

  • Requirements: Registered medical practitioner with at least 3 years’ post-registration experience


Emergency Medical Services

EMS District Manager (Grade 2–3)

  • Centre: Waterberg District

  • Salary: R661,263 – R1,016,055 per annum

  • Requires HPCSA registration (ECT, Paramedic, or ECP) and EMS operational experience


Risk Management & Administration

Assistant Director: Risk Management (3 Posts)

  • Centre: Head Office

  • Salary: R468,459 per annum (Level 09)

  • Relevant qualification in Risk Management, Auditing, Forensic Investigation, or Public Administration

Administration Officer: Risk Management Support

  • Centre: Head Office

  • Salary: R325,101 per annum (Level 07)

  • Suitable for candidates with strong administrative and compliance skills
