Department of Tourism Vacancies 2026: Finance Clerk Positions – Pretoria

The South African Department of Tourism invites applications for Finance Clerk positions on a six-month contract basis for 2026. These opportunities are suitable for candidates with a Matric/Grade 12 certificate seeking experience in public sector finance and administration. Available Positions

1. Finance Clerk: Financial Control and Accounting

  • Reference Number: DT03/2026

  • Number of Posts: 2

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months

  • Location: Pretoria

  • Salary: R228,321 per annum plus 37% in lieu of service benefits

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate

  • Basic understanding of financial processes and data capturing

  • Knowledge of public sector financial legislation (PFMA, Treasury Regulations, PSA, PSR, PPPFA)

  • Familiarity with systems such as BAS, LOGIS, PERSAL, Safetyweb is advantageous

  • Computer literacy, numeracy, and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clearing BAS exceptions and processing journals

  • Capturing and verifying entity and banking details

  • Maintaining financial records and archives

  • Reconciling payment batches and registers

  • Handling financial transaction enquiries

  • Filing, reporting, and verifying payment documentation

2. Finance Clerk: Creditors, Travel, Accommodation, and Subsistence

  • Reference Number: DT04/2026

  • Contract Duration: 6 Months

  • Location: Pretoria

  • Salary: R228,321 per annum plus 37% in lieu of service benefits

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric with Mathematics and Accounting

  • Knowledge of government financial legislation and procedures

  • Experience with BAS, LOGIS, and PERSAL systems

  • Strong administrative, planning, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and interpret financial policies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing travel and subsistence claims

  • Verifying supporting documents and approvals

  • Capturing advances and payments on BAS and PERSAL

  • Managing LOGIS orders and creditor payments

  • Maintaining payment registers and submitting weekly batches

  • Responding to payment-related queries
