JICS Opens New Employment Opportunities Across South Africa for 2026
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) has announced a range of employment opportunities for 2026, offering South Africans the opportunity to contribute to oversight and accountability within the country’s correctional system. Senior Case Officer Position Available in Centurion
Among the vacancies is the position of Senior Case Officer: Complaints, based in Centurion under the Legal Services – Complaints Unit. The post offers an annual salary package of R413,001.
Applicants must hold a Grade 12 certificate together with a recognised legal qualification such as an LLB or BProc degree at NQF Level 7. Candidates are also required to have between one and three years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
The successful candidate will oversee inmate complaint investigations, maintain case records, engage with correctional officials and stakeholders, and supervise administrative personnel within the complaints unit.
JICS is seeking candidates with sound knowledge of constitutional law, criminal procedure, human rights legislation, and correctional services regulations. Strong communication skills, computer literacy, analytical writing ability, and a valid driver’s licence are additional requirements for the role.
ICCV Positions Available Nationwide
JICS has further advertised multiple Independent Correctional Centre Visitor (ICCV) positions on 36-month contracts at correctional centres across several provinces, including Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Free State, and Mpumalanga.
Successful applicants will receive a salary of R89,046 per annum, plus an additional 37% in lieu of benefits.
The ICCV role involves monitoring prison conditions, investigating inmate complaints, engaging with offenders, and reporting concerns related to incarceration conditions and human rights compliance.
To qualify, candidates must possess a Grade 12 certificate, computer literacy, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently. Applicants are also required to submit a recommendation or nomination letter from a recognised community organisation dated within the last six months.
Preference will be given to candidates residing near the correctional facilities where the positions are based.
