Department of Water and Sanitation Announces Government Vacancies for 2026

Deputy Director: Office Support – Mpumalanga

Among the senior-level opportunities available is the Deputy Director: Office Support position based in Mbombela, Mpumalanga. The successful candidate will receive an all-inclusive annual salary package of R932 292.

Applicants must hold an NQF Level 7 qualification in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field, together with a minimum of five years’ management experience in an administrative environment.

The role involves overseeing office administration functions, coordinating strategic planning activities, managing correspondence and stakeholder queries, and supporting financial and human resource operations within Provincial Operations. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.

Assistant Director: Network Administrator – Pretoria

The department is also seeking experienced IT professionals for the role of Assistant Director: Network Administrator at the Pretoria Head Office. The position offers a salary of R487 197 per annum.

Suitable candidates must possess an NQF Level 6 IT qualification, relevant networking certifications such as HP/3Com/Aruba, A+ and N+, as well as at least five years of experience in WAN and LAN administration, including supervisory responsibilities.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining and managing network infrastructure, configuring routers and switches, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and supporting network systems across head office and regional offices.

Chief Security Officer – Kimberley

In the Northern Cape, DWS is recruiting a Chief Security Officer based in Kimberley, with an annual salary of R338 106.

Applicants are required to have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification, a valid PSIRA Grade A certificate, and at least three years of supervisory experience within a security environment. Firearm competency certifications will serve as an added advantage.

Key responsibilities include implementing departmental security policies, conducting investigations, assessing risks and threats, safeguarding departmental assets, and collaborating with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills are essential for the role.

Driver/Messenger Opportunity – Pretoria

An entry-level Driver/Messenger vacancy is also available at the Pretoria Head Office, offering a salary of R201 093 per annum.

Applicants must possess an NQF Level 2 qualification or equivalent, a valid Code 8 driver’s license, and at least one year of experience in a driving or messenger-related environment.

Duties include transporting officials, delivering and collecting documents, maintaining vehicle logbooks, and assisting with registry-related services. Candidates may also be subjected to practical and theoretical assessments during the recruitment process.
