GCIS Vacancies 2026: Government Communication Posts Open Nationwide

Senior Provincial Director Vacancies
GCIS is currently recruiting Provincial Directors for the Free State, Eastern Cape, and Gauteng provincial offices.

Successful candidates will oversee provincial communication strategies, coordinate government awareness campaigns, and improve communication systems between national, provincial, and local government structures.

Minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or related qualification

Deputy Director: Digital Media – Pretoria
GCIS is also seeking a Deputy Director: Digital Media based in Pretoria with a salary package of R932 292 per annum.
The role focuses on managing digital communication platforms, website content, and online publishing systems used by government departments.
Candidates with experience in SharePoint, Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, Power Apps, Adobe Creative Suite, and AI-powered digital technologies will have an added advantage.
Regional Communication Coordinator Opportunities
Two Regional Communication Coordinator positions are available with a salary of R487 197 per annum.
The positions are based in:
- Harry Gwala District, KwaZulu-Natal
- Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng
Responsibilities include coordinating government communication programmes, engaging local communities, supporting municipal communication systems, and implementing public information campaigns.
Applicants must possess:
- A National Diploma in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Media Studies
- At least three years’ relevant experience in communication environments
Research and Journalism Positions
GCIS has also opened specialist vacancies in research and media services.
Assistant Director: Research – Pretoria
Salary: R487 197 per annum
The successful applicant will conduct communication research, analyse data using SPSS and Excel, compile reports, and support strategic communication planning.
Assistant Director: News Services (Senior Reporter) – Pretoria
Salary: R487 197 per annum
This role requires experienced journalists capable of producing news articles, multimedia content, and feature stories for SAnews.gov.za and other government communication platforms.
Media Monitoring Officer Vacancy
A Principal Communication Officer: Communication and Media Monitoring position is also available in Pretoria with an annual salary of R413 001.
The role involves monitoring media coverage, analysing communication trends, compiling reports, and supporting government communication evaluation processes.
