Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Announces 2026 Employment Opportunities

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) has released a new recruitment circular for 2026, offering a range of employment opportunities across various disciplines, including labour relations, human resources, records management, logistics, transport administration, and support services.

The vacancies are available at both the Pretoria Head Office and the Cape Town Regional Office, providing opportunities for suitably qualified candidates seeking careers within the public service.

Senior Labour Relations Leadership Position

Among the advertised vacancies is the position of Deputy Director: Employee Relations (Labour Relations Management) based in Pretoria.

This senior management role is responsible for overseeing labour relations functions, including grievance management, disciplinary processes, dispute resolution, and employee relations training. Applicants should possess extensive experience in labour relations management and a thorough understanding of relevant labour legislation and conflict management procedures.

The position offers a highly competitive remuneration package exceeding R1.1 million per annum.

Records and Information Management Opportunity

The department is also seeking applications for the ASD: Archives & Office Support Services position at its Pretoria Head Office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for records administration, registry management, office support services, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements such as PAIA and POPIA. Candidates with qualifications in Information Science, Records Management, or Public Administration are encouraged to apply.

Human Resources Recruitment Vacancy

DPWI is recruiting a Senior Personnel Practitioner: Recruitment & Planning to support recruitment, workforce planning, and employment equity initiatives.

The role includes coordinating recruitment processes, managing vacancy advertisements, supporting selection activities, and maintaining human resource planning systems. Relevant qualifications and experience in Human Resource Management will be advantageous.

Administrative Support in Labour Relations

Applications are also invited for the Administrative Officer: Labour Relations Management position.

Key responsibilities include maintaining labour relations records, coordinating meetings, preparing reports, and providing administrative support to the directorate. Candidates should demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Conditions of Service Administration Position

The department is further recruiting a Personnel Practitioner: Conditions of Service (HRA).

The role focuses on human resource administration, employee benefits, pension matters, policy implementation, and processing appointments and terminations. Experience with systems such as PERSAL and CORE will be beneficial.

Transport and Logistics Opportunity in Cape Town

At the Cape Town Regional Office, DPWI is seeking an Administrative Officer: Transport (SCM: Provisioning and Logistics).

The position involves fleet management, travel administration, transport record management, and ensuring compliance with supply chain management and financial regulations. Individuals with experience in logistics, transport management, or supply chain administration are encouraged to apply.

Driver Position Available

The department has also advertised a Driver vacancy based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities include transporting officials, handling deliveries, assisting with registry functions, and providing general administrative support. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s licence together with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
