The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) has opened applications for the position of Project Coordinator: Environmental Programmes (MP). Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or higher qualification in Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, or a related field recognised by SAQA.
- A minimum of two years’ experience as a Project Coordinator within the Natural Resources Management (NRM) environment.
Applicants should also have knowledge and practical experience in:
- Project management
- Alien vegetation control programmes
- Financial and administrative management
- Occupational Health and Safety compliance
- Stakeholder engagement and coordination
- Report writing and communication
The department seeks candidates who are capable of working independently, managing multiple responsibilities, and effectively supervising field-based teams.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
The Project Coordinator will assist with operational planning, project target development, stakeholder engagement, and the establishment and maintenance of project advisory committees.
Project Implementation
Responsibilities include coordinating the recruitment of EPWP field workers, overseeing environmental activities, and ensuring the successful implementation of alien vegetation clearing projects.
Monitoring and Reporting
The successful candidate will conduct site inspections, prepare assessment reports, monitor project expenditure, and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Project Closure
The role also includes preparing project close-out reports, conducting final site inspections, and facilitating completion certification processes.
