Mpumalanga Government Opens Vacancies
The Mpumalanga Office of the Premier has announced two high-level executive vacancies aimed at enhancing governance, infrastructure development, and institutional support across the province. Head of Department: Public Works, Roads and Transport
The Office of the Premier is seeking a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Head of Department (Superintendent-General) for Public Works, Roads and Transport. The successful applicant will serve as the department’s Accounting Officer and lead strategic infrastructure and transport initiatives across Mpumalanga.
The role offers an all-inclusive remuneration package of R2.35 million per annum, plus an additional 10% Head of Department allowance.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A SAQA-recognised postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8
- At least 10 years of senior management experience
- Proven leadership and governance expertise
- Extensive knowledge of infrastructure, public works, and transport administration
Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications in the built environment sector.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading provincial public works, roads, and transport programmes
- Managing infrastructure development and Expanded Public Works initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- Overseeing financial, operational, and human resource management
- Driving strategic departmental performance and service delivery
The appointment will be made on a five-year contract basis and is subject to competency assessments and security clearance.
Deputy Director-General: Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management
The Office of the Premier has also advertised a permanent position for a Deputy Director-General: Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management.
The successful candidate will receive an all-inclusive annual salary package of R1.81 million.
Requirements
Candidates must possess:
- An appropriate postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 8
- A minimum of eight years’ senior management experience
- Strong governance and institutional development expertise
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Main Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership to the Institutional Development Support and Integrity Management Branch
- Strengthening governance and administration within provincial departments
- Overseeing integrity management, forensic investigations, and security services
- Guiding human resource policy and transformation initiatives
- Monitoring ICT, legal support, communication, and related services
The position is subject to competency assessments and security vetting procedures.
