Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) – Vacancy Announcement
The Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the senior management position of Chief Director: Funding Support and Coordination. This role presents an opportunity to contribute strategically to South Africa’s economic growth by strengthening funding mechanisms for small businesses and cooperatives.
Position Details

- Salary: R1,494,900 per annum (Level 14)

This position forms part of the senior management echelon and requires a highly capable individual with extensive experience in funding coordination or development finance.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- A Senior Certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in:
- Development Finance
- Economics
- Financial Accounting
- Corporate Finance
- Business or Public Administration
- An Honours degree will be advantageous
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience at a senior management level, preferably in funding or development finance
- Proven experience in audited environments with strong compliance knowledge
Candidates should also demonstrate a sound understanding of key legislative frameworks, including the PFMA, Public Service Act, and National Development Plan.

- Strategic leadership and decision-making abilities
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- The ability to operate across multiple sectors and spheres of government
Completion of the SMS Pre-entry Programme is a prerequisite for appointment.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate funding opportunities for MSMEs and cooperatives
- Mobilise and secure funding from public and private sector partners
- Develop and implement funding policies, frameworks, and standards
- Lead blended finance initiatives to enhance enterprise development
- Promote competitiveness within informal and cooperative sectors
- Oversee operational, financial, and human resource management within the directorate
- Build and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships
